Originally, it was mentioned that I might start getting paid on my new grade from 1st November. Now I have been told that because of the delays and them wanting a clean handover, it might not be till 16th November. Hmm...I know, here's an idea, why don’t you just save everyone the hassle and just pay me at the higher grade for doing the job I’m already doing! The amount of people who have independently mentioned to me that they know I am working above the level my job is graded at is ridiculous and that’s really the only reason I am moving. BlankFace, for my all my preconceptions of her, is actually turning out to be pretty good at getting things moving and could probably have carried quite a bit of weight in sorting this out for me, had she taken over line management of our team sooner! It’s so frustrating because I quite like lots of elements of my current job, I just resent the fact that they decided not to replace my supervisor which left me with a substantial portion of his work, for the same pay I was getting for a lower-level job. I know it’s potentially only 2 extra weeks of waiting before I get paid more, but when you’ve been waiting 16 months for it overall, every day counts!
The prospect of a new job, new challenges and mostly the extra pay has been a substantial motivator for me lately, but that drive is depleting the longer this transition period drags out. I need to find a job that I want to do for the love of it. When the pay starts to become the main perk, especially when it's not even that great, is not a great sign.
