Fire
The running joke I have with Miss T about us wanting an office fire to negate the need for filing, is steadily becoming less of a joke. The number of files, folders and documents on my desk that need to be returned to their homes is embarrassing. It is also slightly more urgent a task for me than it ever was before, since I only have a maximum of four weeks within which to sort out all outstanding tasks, file, tidy up my desk and generally have a purge of my email and snail mail in-boxes and my task list before I make the treacherous move a few desks down. Luckily, I will be within easy reach if there are any queries that come up, or unfinished tasks that I have forgotten about. But seeing as the last two months are a blur, goodness knows how quickly these four weeks will pass. That’s if I even have four weeks. I won’t even know what they want my start date to be until Boss Lady comes back. It seems like they are arranging it all between them. What if, depending on whether the pay date of the beginning of November is true as Double G told me, I only have two weeks?? Yikes. That’s not even funny. It looks like I’ll be in for some late evenings at work, or perhaps I’ll just have to force myself to have more productive days, instead of wishing the hours away with daydreams and half-writing blog-posts in between my work tasks?
