Monday...Meh.

I feel the desire to write, but don’t really know what to say.  The weekend was so-so and this morning I woke up, felt a little teary and was feeling very Monday by the time I got to work.  Yesterday, when I decided to go home from Samson’s, I checked the trains and realised I had to leave almost immediately if I was going to catch a train that had a near-immediate connection at the other end.  Otherwise, it would mean a wait of up to 30 minutes at a train station I don’t especially like, to get a train one stop.  I rushed about making sure I put everything in my weekend bag and answered ‘yes’ when he asked if I had everything.  After kissing him goodbye at the door, I ran to the lift, only to run straight back after remembering I had left my iPod charging.  I retrieved it, left the building, caught a bus to the station and realised I couldn’t find my phone.  I must have left it at Samson’s.  Grr.

I stopped to buy a drink and got to the station about 3 minutes before my train.  I felt distracted throughout the journey, listening to music, but not having a book or my phone to mess around on and feeling a bit restless.  I got to my stop and waited another 5 minutes for the connecting train, getting home within an hour of leaving.  It was raining and rather miserable, but it seemed to suit my mood somewhat.  I had a catch-up with Big Sis and Bro-in-Law, who were looking at the menu for Giraffe online and told me they were planning to go on Tuesday night before attending a lecture near where I work.  I have been telling them to go for ages because I think the food is really good and after my most recent visit with Lolly, I think I had probably tried to convince them again.  I got hungry just reading the menu and starting thinking about when to plan my next trip with Lolly.

I checked my post and found with excitement that I had received my provisional driving license!  I have been wanting to get driving lessons more and more lately, and already had the necessary provisional license required in order to get them.  But I applied for it 10 years ago and it had gone missing.  I was going to apply for a new one, then discovered they require you to update the photo on it every 10 years in any case. I was worried I wouldn’t receive it, as I had checked my bank account on Friday to see if the cheque for the £20 fee had gone through, only to discover with dismay that my balance was -£112 due to an ‘unarranged overdraft fee’ that I couldn’t understand the justification for.  But inexplicably, the payment seemed to have gone through and the licence had arrived.  Now all I need to do is find out how much lessons will cost and then pluck up the courage to ring my Mum, who kindly offered to pay for some lessons for me as a birthday present (I still haven’t spoken to my parents since my birthday, although I sent them a card to say sorry if I had upset them –I’m better in writing).

The rest of the evening was uneventful, me doing my usual of watching TV in bed while surfing the net.  I caught the season 3 finale of The Mentalist that I had missed on Friday night...loved it!  I spent some time trying to figure out how to set the timer on my stereo so that it would go on at 7am in lieu of the alarm which is on my absent phone.  I was pleasantly surprised when I woke the next morning to an instrumental version of 'Open the Eyes of My Heart' by the Bajada Minstrels.  It was a lovely way to start the day and I got up, had some breakfast and made unrushed progress getting ready.  Work is boring today, but I have a seminar at 2.00pm for an hour or so, which will be a nice change from the office (although the subject matter isn't particularly interesting).  Home time, please?
